About the Role
The Engineering Base Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient allocation of McDermott Aviation production, maintenance and operating assets, and the coordination of daily operational activities at our Sunshine Coast Airport base. Providing a single point of coordination between McDermott Aviation Maintenance and Operational teams and stakeholders, you will lead, manage and motivate operations, maintenance and safety personnel.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of our Sunshine Coast Airport base
- Lead, mentor and develop base personnel, fostering a high-performance, safety-first culture
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for manufacturing and maintenance operations
- Develop and foster safe operations in accordance with strategic objectives, plans, policies and procedures
- Maintain ongoing communication regarding aircraft production issues, crew availability and operational limitations
- Ensure compliance with CASA and FAA regulations, manufacturer manuals and McDermott Aviation operations manuals
- Oversee regular audits of personnel, facilities, assets and equipment
- Provide subject matter expertise on the procurement of aircraft and aviation equipment
- Oversee and contribute to the safety management system
- Ensure resourcing requirements are identified for effective service delivery and projected growth
- Ensure quality and safety management systems (audits, investigations, corrective actions, testing) are completed in accordance with McDermott Aviation, CASA and FAA requirements
- Ensure compliance with the Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP)
Qualifications
- Engineering qualifications / licences
- Valid driver’s licence
- Ability to obtain and maintain an aviation security clearance
- Ability to maintain an airside driver’s authority
Experience and Knowledge
- Extensive management experience in a commercial or government aviation organisation, preferably with maintenance and maintenance planning experience
- Extensive knowledge of CASA and/or FAA regulations and contemporary safety management principles
- Experience leading and supervising staff in an aviation production and/or maintenance facility
- Experience managing and monitoring financial resources, including procurement, operational and maintenance costs, and financial reporting/forecasting
- Broad understanding of the aviation regulatory environment for rotary-wing aircraft maintenance
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
