About the Role

We’re on the lookout for a dynamic leader ready to take on a diverse array of challenges, making safety, compliance, team engagement and leadership the top priorities. The role is fast-paced and hands-on, but also requires the ability to step back and set strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring the front-line team is engaged, motivated and excited to deliver.

Reporting to the Head of Airfield, the Airfield Operations Manager manages the airfield operations safety team, ensuring regulatory activities are completed to satisfy CASA regulations and maintain a safe environment for aircraft operations and personnel working on the airfield. The role manages a combination of office staff and frontline shift staff who manage the day-to-day operation of the airfield and facilitate other critical functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Airfield Operations team is compliant with the Airport Manual and relevant CASA regulations
  • Create an engaged environment for Airfield Safety Officers to excel in
  • Manage performance and get the best out of the team
  • Ensure staff are aware of OHS safety risks, have completed necessary training, are current on the appropriate SWMS/SOPs, and use appropriate PPE
  • Manage the airside safety officer staff, driving performance and efficiency
  • Manage the frontline airside safety team, including rostering and leave management
  • Manage the Airside Safety budget and support the Head of Airfield with departmental budget and consultancy requirements

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • At least 5 years’ management experience within an aviation operations environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in Aviation or Business Management (desirable)
  • Ability to hold a Level 4E Airside Drivers Licence
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of CASA regulations
  • Strong leadership skills, and excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Experience formulating and implementing initiatives that deliver good safety outcomes
  • Ability to lead in high-pressure situations and play a key role in crisis events
  • Strong experience in risk management, risk assessment and change management
