The Opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Airport Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, efficient and compliant aerodrome at Coffs Harbour Airport, providing day-to-day supervision of airfield positions including Works Safety Officer and Wildlife Management resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake aerodrome serviceability inspections (runways, taxiways, aprons) in accordance with CASA Manual of Standards Part 139
- Supervise duty airfield staff and contractors; maintain radio contact with Air Traffic Control
- Undertake wildlife hazard management activities including bird dispersal and counts
- Implement airport security procedures and monitor separation of screened/unscreened passengers
- Act as Aerodrome Reporting Officer and participate in Airport Emergency Plan exercises
Essential Requirements
- Aerodrome Reporting Officer or Works Safety Officer Certificate
- Experience in incident and emergency response, liaising with first responders
- Familiarity with Air Traffic Control procedures
- Ability to acquire Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate, Class LR licence and ASIC
- Subject to random and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
