Job Overview
The Operations Support Officer (OPSO) is responsible for the effective and efficient running of the Operations Room in the absence of the Operations Supervisor.
Assisting the Operations Supervisor (OS), Deputy Head of Operations (DHOO) or the Duty Officer (DUTO), depending who is in charge.
Responsibilities and duties
Support Operations Supervisor in the Operations Room.
Maintain FTA manuals and forms in the Operations Room Manual in the Operations Room at all times.
Maintain official documents and forms in the Operations Room, including aircraft maintenance log books.
Assist in the coordination with flight instructors and Engineering on the dispatching of aircraft resources to ensure maximum safety and productivity.
Maintain logs of Operations Room equipment such as headsets, high visibility vests, life jackets, chart sets, Garmin Glo’s and kneepads etc.
Communicate weather and other safety warnings to the pilots.
Comply with Drug and Alcohol Management Program Testing.
Carry out the fuel Quantity Control Checks in the absence of the Manager Operations.
Monitor and manage the Emergency Response Plan, which includes, among other things, internal and external SARTIME.
Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by management.
Must be able to work shifts – weekends and morning, afternoon/evening shifts.
Qualifications and experience
Ability to prioritise and communicate effectively, in writing, verbally and over VHF radio.
Excellent management skills.
The ability to work in a team environment.
Aviation background and knowledge required.
ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card) or the ability to apply for one.
An Aviation Radio Operator Certificate (AROC), or the ability to apply for one (after the appropriate testing process, which we will provide).
Computer literacy.
Effective writing skills.
Hold/retain clear Australian National Police Check
