About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable, safety-focused ground crew member / fuel truck driver to join our team in Stanthorpe (main operating base at Dalveen, approx. 30km from Stanthorpe, with a secondary base in Ballina NSW). This role combines supporting daily aviation activities with fuel truck driving and refuelling to support our aerial firefighting fleet when required.
We are a reputable aviation company established for over 20 years, conducting helicopter operations including flight training, fire support, flood relief, aerial sling and other activities. Our firefighting fleet operates statewide and travel will be involved. Flexibility is a must, including the ability to work away from home and weekends when required. The position involves a minimum of 60 hours per fortnight, and availability during the summer bushfire season is non-negotiable. Own vehicle is required.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide safe and reliable ground support to our aircraft during fire and lift operations
- Perform general day-to-day upkeep of air base equipment and vehicles
- Operate a Western Star prime mover and 24,000L aviation fuel trailer when required
- Refuel aircraft safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance on refuelling equipment
- Maintain accurate fuel records and safety documentation
- Assist pilots and customers with quality customer service
- Rig loads for underslung operations
- Ensure all operations comply with safety standards
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- HC Licence with Road Ranger experience
- DG driver’s licence
- Unrestricted motor vehicle licence
- Ability to use an iPad / tech / apps as required
- Strong commitment to safety and operational procedures
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised
- Must pass a Police check and Aviation Security ID check
Desirable
- Forklift licence, Dogman certificate, Firearms licence
- Mechanical experience and understanding
- Aviation experience (training will be provided)
