About the Role
As a Duty Manager, you will primarily be responsible on a shift basis, for the day-to- day oversight and management of Star Aviation’s airport operations, encompassing both above and below-wing servicing requirements. This role has a strong focus on people development and performance management, developing a strong culture of high performing teams. In addition, the role demands a strong focus delivering an extremely high standard of service, while meeting operational service level agreement targets in a fast-paced environment.
Service Delivery and Shift Management
Oversee all cargo terminal operations during shift, including receipt, dispatch and storage of freight
Ensure compliance with airline, regulatory and customer requirements for cargo handling
Manage operational performance across import, export and transfer freight activities
Ensure KPIs relating to safety, service delivery, on-time performance and productivity are achieved
Act as the primary escalation point for operational issues, disruptions and irregularities
Liaise with airlines, freight forwarders and terminal stakeholders on day of operations
Complete and review all shift reporting, including operational and safety reports
Monitor warehouse flow and ensure efficient use of space, equipment and labour
Provide operational support and relief duties where required
Workforce Planning and People Management
Supervise and coordinate cargo operational staff on shift
Manage day of operations including backfill for unplanned absences
Lead, coach and develop team members to improve performance and capability
Ensure staff training compliance and competency requirements are maintained
Promote a strong safety culture aligned with aviation and WHS standards
Manage performance issues and resolve conflict at an operational level
Ensure adherence to fatigue management, licensing and qualification requirements
Standards, Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with aviation security, dangerous goods and cargo handling regulations
Monitor adherence to company procedures, airline requirements and regulatory standards
Investigate incidents, damages and non-compliance, and escalate as required
Maintain accurate records and reporting in line with operational requirements
Skills and Experience
Experience supervising teams in cargo, logistics or aviation operations
Demonstrated leadership capability in a fast paced operational environment
Experience in warehouse or freight terminal operations
Valid Australian Drivers Licence
Ability to obtain and hold a valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Airside Driving Authority (ADA)
Dangerous Goods certification
Forklift Licence
First Aid Certification
Excellent organisation & time management skills
Strong ability to multi-task, prioritise and meet deadlines
