About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager Safety & Quality, the Safety Assurance Co-ordinator plays a key role in providing safety assurance across Skytrans Australia. This is a full-time position that can be based in Cairns or Brisbane, with some travel required, including the ability to travel at short notice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing oversight and assurance of the Company's Safety Management System and supporting continuous improvement in safety performance
  • Identifying safety risks and hazards and supporting appropriate risk management and mitigation activities
  • Working closely with operational and safety stakeholders to promote effective safety reporting, investigation and follow-up
  • Providing safety advice and mentoring to employees and supporting a strong reporting and Just Culture environment
  • Supporting compliance with Company safety management standards, approved policies, procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Conducting independent audits and supporting surveillance and assurance activities across operational areas
  • Liaising with operational teams, contractors, customers and regulatory authorities on safety and assurance matters
  • Undertaking delegated and regulated duties associated with CASA-regulated Safety and Quality positions, as required

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience within an aviation safety department
  • Working knowledge and experience providing oversight of safety management systems
  • A strong understanding of aviation safety reporting systems and regulatory/industry requirements
  • The ability to provide safety advice, mentoring and guidance to others
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to work independently and conduct audits as required

Desirable

  • CASA ARN Holder status and/or successful completion of CASA-related courses
