About the Company

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Queensland Section is a leader in delivering aeromedical and primary healthcare services to rural and remote communities across Queensland. RFDS Engineers provide maintenance and defect rectification services to keep our fleet of 26 aircraft safe, compliant, and tasking ready, supporting the Beechcraft King Air B200, B350, and new B360 aircraft.

About the Role

B1 LAME wanted! Join RFDS Queensland and play a vital role in maintaining our fleet and delivering life-saving care statewide. RFDS Brisbane Base currently has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time B1 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) — Brisbane location, no shift work, Monday to Friday role. As a B1 LAME, you will support the 24/7 RFDS Queensland operation by ensuring scheduled maintenance and AOG (Aircraft on Ground) defect rectification for assigned aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled Base and Line maintenance checks in a timely manner, ensuring minimal impact to aircraft network availability, as delegated by the OME, LMM, or SBE.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify line maintenance defects arising during daily flight operations for aircraft based at Brisbane and those transiting through the base.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities as delegated; participate in the base on-call roster as required.
  • Support Line Maintenance operations across Queensland as required.
  • Ensure goods and materials are stored safely; conduct inspections and rectification of Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Report all defective tooling to the OME, SBE, and Supply Chain Manager.

Essential Requirements

  • CASA B1.1 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualification.
  • Proven experience working on turboprop engines, ideally those relevant to RFDS Queensland aircraft types.
  • Beechcraft 300 Series type rating.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and communicate confidently with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy; sound knowledge of the regulatory environment relating to aircraft maintenance.
