Queensland Government Air (QGAir) forms part of the Queensland Police Service (QPS), Aviation Capability Group (ACG), and provides government aviation services specialising in both rotary and fixed-wing operations in support of the QPS and partner agencies in regular and emergency response operations across Queensland.
The Role
Join QGAir’s dynamic rotary wing team in Cairns and make a real difference to the lives of those in need. We are seeking experienced helicopter pilots to fly single pilot, instrument flight rules (IFR) in multi-engine AW139 helicopters. You’ll be part of a highly coordinated, multi-crew environment conducting emergency medical, search and rescue and counter-disaster operations, supporting aeromedical and various police and government-related missions.

Mandatory Requirements
- Current Australian Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL – Helicopter)
- Completion of Air Transport Pilots Licence subjects (Helicopter)
- Low Level Rating
- Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating — 3 renewals
- Minimum 2,500 hours total time
- Minimum 1,500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) Helicopter
- Minimum 200 hours Night PIC Helicopter
- Minimum 500 hours Multi-Engine PIC Helicopter
- Minimum 1,200 hours Turbine Helicopter
- Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Current Class 1 Aviation Medical
Highly Desirable
- Current Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)
- Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Rating and minimum 100 hours NVIS operations
- AW139 Type Rating
- Current Australian Passport
