Ground Handler Position - Gold Coast Airport (Bilinga)
We are a leading FBO (Fixed Base Operator) with locations at both Gold Coast Airport and Essendon Fields Airport. Due to an increase in business, we are seeking a Ground Handler to join our team at our Gold Coast Airport location in Bilinga. You will play a critical multiskilled role that includes handling of operations, baggage handling and refueling to ensure a seamless experience for passengers and crew. We are looking for an immediate start for the right candidate.
Role Overview:
As a Ground Handler, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional service to our clients, both existing and potential, while contributing to the efficient execution of all administrative tasks related to international and domestic flights. As our FBO operates 24/7, your role will be part of a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
Working Hours:
38 hours per week, with additional hours as required.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by flight schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Advance Communication – Liaise with flight operators, crew, and handling agents to confirm schedules, services, and special requirements
Discreet & Efficient Check-In – Deliver a professional, seamless, and confidential experience for executive and VIP clients
Marshalling & Ramp Handling – Safely guide, park, and secure aircraft on arrival and departure
Baggage Handling – Manage luggage with care, efficiency, and discretion, ensuring timely loading and unloading
Aircraft Towing & Equipment Operation – Operate and maintain ground support equipment, including aircraft tugs and specialist vehicles
HR Truck Operation – Drive and operate HR-class vehicles for fuel delivery, equipment transport, and operational support (where licensed)
Aircraft Lavatory & Water Services – Service aircraft to ensure cleanliness and readiness for departure
Aircraft Refuelling Operations –
Conduct or assist with safe refuelling of aircraft in accordance with aviation fuel handling procedures
Perform fuel quality checks, bonding/earthing procedures, and contamination prevention measures
Accurately complete fuel documentation and maintain fuel records/logs
Monitor fuel levels and coordinate fuel supply to meet operational demands
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards at all times
Refuelling Coordination – Coordinate fuel requirements with flight crew and suppliers to ensure timely turnaround
Catering Coordination – Arrange and deliver catering to required standards, ensuring quality and correct handling
Luxury Transportation – Organise VIP transport including limousines, chauffeurs, and private transfers
Crew Transport – Arrange transport and accommodation transfers for flight crew
Customs & Security Coordination – Facilitate fast-track clearance while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
Ramp Safety & Operations – Maintain strict adherence to ramp safety procedures and contribute to a safe working environment
Real-Time Communication – Maintain clear and consistent communication across all operational teams
Emergency Response Preparedness – Respond effectively to operational disruptions, including weather or technical issues
24/7 Operational Support – Assist with short-notice schedule changes and operational requirements
FBO Presentation – Maintain a clean, organised, and professional lounge and client areas
Skills & Qualifications:

Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Previous aviation or ground handling experience (advantageous)
Aircraft refuelling experience (highly desirable)
Valid driver’s licence (essential)
HR Licence (preferred) with ability to operate heavy vehicles, including fuel trucks
Well-presented with a professional, client-facing manner
Ability to obtain an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card)
Ability to obtain Dangerous Goods Awareness certification
