About the Role

PHI Aviation has an exciting opportunity for an AWSAR Winch Operator / Rescue Crewperson to join the team in Broome, WA. This is a full-time permanent role. Reporting to the SAR Chief Crewperson, you will play a pivotal role in the success of the Flight Operations department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the aircraft is prepared for SAR operations before each flight
  • Dispatch stores, pyrotechnics, or air-droppable life rafts
  • Ensure cabin occupants and equipment are secured
  • Conduct rescue and recovery of personnel while deployed on the aircraft winch
  • Ensure all SAR equipment is set up, functioning, and secure prior to and during flight
  • Conduct cabin management and aircraft clearances
  • Provide first aid to rescued personnel
  • Assist the aircraft Captain with operational decision-making
  • Operate the hoist and direct aircraft movement during the winching phase
  • Assist the captain with aircraft clearances and positioning during remote-site landings
  • Assist with towing, equipping, and husbandry of the aircraft
  • Assist with inspection, servicing, and upkeep of SAR role equipment

Essential Requirements

  • 500 hours as Helicopter Technical Crew
  • 50 hours as SAR Technical Crew

Desirable

  • Previous SAR S92A operating experience
  • CASA Class 2 Aviation Medical
  • TBOSIET
  • Advanced First Aid Training
  • Aeronautical Radio Operators Certificate
  • Defence force experience (veterans encouraged to apply)
