About the Role

Take your next step in your career within our team of engineers. Reporting to our Chief Engineer, this full-time position plays a key role in supporting the technological development and capability verification of our cutting-edge line of UAS.

Being an SME at the forefront of technological development in a fast-paced environment, you'll be using your whole toolbox of skills along with your aptitude to gain skills which may not fit the title but be required to get the job done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute flight test plans to meet project objectives.
  • Own and govern verification and validation (V&V) artefacts for assigned programs, including V&V Plans, Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRM) and Acceptance Test Plans.
  • Undertake engineering analysis and develop technical justification supporting component and system qualification across Innovaero's uncrewed aerial platforms.
  • Support the planning and execution of system level certification activities across complex, integrated unmanned aerial platforms.
  • Maintain end to end traceability from requirements through to verification evidence, keeping records audit ready.
  • Provide flight test engineering support on various capability development and ADF demonstration deployments throughout Australia.
  • Contribute to the technological and capability development of aerial platforms.
  • Organise and coordinate assignments within agreed budget and schedule.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the flight test team.
  • Build strong working relationships across Systems Engineering, Test & Evaluation, Quality, Production and Program stakeholders to align on project outcomes.
  • Continuous improvement of V&V frameworks, processes and tools as the business scales.

Essential Requirements

  • Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering degree.
  • Experience in flight test engineering, with applications from early career through to senior engineers encouraged.
  • Experience across the full V&V lifecycle, including developing and executing system level verification strategies.
  • Track record integrating and delivering systems within complex engineering programs.
  • Proven working experience in one or more of: aircraft and/or UAS flight testing operations; aircraft and/or UAS design and standards; UAS ground control station operations; aerodynamic analysis and/or aircraft sizing; aircraft structural analysis.
  • Proven ability to author and review technical and verification reports relating to structural and mechanical systems.
  • Defence security clearance or an ability to obtain one is a requirement (NV1 desirable).

Desirable

  • Experience delivering defence projects highly regarded.
  • UAS design & development experience desirable.
  • Mechatronics experience desirable.
