About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the delivery of advanced Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) capabilities within a complex Defence environment. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the integration, certification and assurance of mission-critical software systems while working alongside Defence stakeholders, industry partners and multidisciplinary engineering teams. You will provide technical leadership across software engineering activities, ensuring solutions meet operational requirements, compliance obligations and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on software engineering activities.
  • Lead and coordinate software integration activities across the system lifecycle.
  • Support cyber certification and software assurance requirements.
  • Review technical documentation and contractual deliverables to ensure compliance with project and engineering requirements.
  • Participate in technical working groups, design reviews and milestone activities.
  • Assess system and software design documentation to support verification, validation and certification activities.
  • Identify, analyse and manage software-related technical risks.
  • Support the development, review and execution of software test plans, procedures and reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define, manage and trace software requirements.
  • Engage with Defence, industry and engineering teams to support capability delivery and system performance.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum six years' experience in a relevant engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, processes and lifecycle management.
  • Experience working on software integration activities within complex systems.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, verification and validation methodologies.
  • Ability to review and assess technical documentation, specifications and engineering artefacts.
  • Experience supporting certification, assurance and compliance activities.
  • Australian citizenship and a current NV1 Security Clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience within Defence, aviation, aerospace or UAS programs would be highly regarded.
