Senior Remote Pilot (Chief Remote Pilot Pathway) – Part Time / Casual
Drone RPAS Operations
Survey & Aerial Mapping Operations | WA-Based
We are a growing survey and geospatial company with a significant investment in aerial surveying, mapping, LiDAR and advanced RPAS operations. With approximately 20 active Remote Pilots and expanding service lines — including higher-level approvals and complex operational environments — we are seeking an experienced RPAS/DRONE/Aviation professional to strengthen the governance and compliance framework of our drone operations.
This is a part-time / casual senior role, focused primarily on compliance oversight, operational governance and pilot management, with a clear pathway toward appointment as Chief Remote Pilot (CRP).
About the Role
Initially, the successful candidate will operate as a Senior Remote Pilot supporting the Chief Remote Pilot, with responsibilities centred around:
Regulatory compliance and CASA approvals
BARS RPAS accreditation maintenance
Oversight of pilot onboarding, training and VOC management
Operational planning review and risk governance
Fleet and equipment compliance (registration, maintenance, firmware, insurance)
Internal auditing of logs, checklists and procedures
Over time, and subject to demonstrated capability and cultural fit, the role is expected to transition into the nominated Chief Remote Pilot position under our ReOC.
This is primarily an administrative and governance role, not a flying-heavy position. However, for the right candidate with strong operational capability, involvement in aerial projects may be considered.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
Has substantial commercial RPAS operational experience
Holds a CASA RePL
Has experience managing or overseeing teams of Remote Pilots
Understands CASA regulatory frameworks and operational approvals
Holds an IREX qualification or has completed BVLOS OCTA examinations (highly regarded)
Has experience in mapping and survey drone operations
Is confident operating across multiple RPAS platforms and payload types
Most importantly, we want someone who is:
Practical and operationally grounded
Strong in regulatory governance
Proactive with CASA applications and operational approvals
Comfortable taking ownership of systems and accountability
Interested in leading and developing a professional RPAS team
Why Join Us
Great company and culture with a strong team environment.
Flexible part-time / casual engagement
Clear pathway to Chief Remote Pilot
Influence over a growing and technically advanced drone operation
Opportunity to shape governance and compliance systems in a scaling business
If you are an experienced RPAS professional looking to step into a senior governance and leadership pathway — without jumping immediately into full CRP appointment — we’d welcome a conversation.
