About the Role
We are seeking a detail-focused and proactive Inventory Officer to join our Defence Aeronautical Life Support Equipment (ALSE) logistics team, located in Melbourne at Airflite's Cheltenham Defence Support Centre. Whilst the primary focus of the role will be on purchasing, the day will be varied.
Key Responsibilities
- Raising purchase orders and coordinating procurement activities.
- Working with Defence customers, engineers, technical staff and vendors, responding to inventory related enquiries.
- Monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of ALSE within the Defence logistics system.
- Collaborating with MRP controllers analysing inventory usage trends and demand forecasts.
- Assisting with inventory planning to prevent shortage or overstocking.
- Monitoring delivery schedules and following up on outstanding orders.
- Supporting collaborative problem-solving to address logistics and supply challenges.
Essential Requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective work with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing inventory records and data.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel at an intermediate level.
- Must be an Australian Citizen, and eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
Desirable
- Previous experience in inventory control, procurement or supply chain operations.
- Experience with Defence logistics systems such as AIMS or SAP S/4HANA (full training will be provided).
