About the Role

The Legal & Compliance Counsel will be part of the APAC L&C team providing legal and compliance support for all APAC Airbus entities, in particular, Malaysia. We are seeking a motivated and experienced in-house generalist legal counsel or lawyer with at least 6-8 years Post-Qualified Experience to join our dynamic legal team, providing comprehensive legal advice and support across contract review, drafting, and negotiation, as well as litigation, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and effectively managing legal risks for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Corporate Secretarial Matters

  • Providing legal and compliance services to the Business Units, Functions and Group entities present in APAC, in particular Malaysia and their respective operations
  • Work with business stakeholders to assess legal implications and potential risk, helping identify, understand and manage short-term and long-term risks to the business
  • Provide legal support for various acquisition, re-organisation, integration, development and divestment projects in APAC
  • Support coordination of outside counsel with internal project team members (Group legal and compliance, tax, finance, HR, export control, insurance, real estate and relevant business stakeholders)
  • Monitor compliance of transactions with relevant and applicable laws and regulations
  • Coordinate and review corporate secretarial documentation in respect of Airbus entities
  • Draft and review agreements for various transactions, including aviation services (MRO services, parts repair, lease and exchange services, line and base airframe maintenance, spare parts management and supply, sales, fleet technical management), procurement, real estate, and compliance-related contracts with third parties

Compliance

  • Support compliance initiatives and assist with deployment and monitoring of tools and systems used by Airbus
  • Support coordination within the APAC Region on policies, regulations and legal processes
  • Support the Legal & Compliance function with roll-out and management of training sessions on anti-corruption laws and internal compliance policies
  • Support deployment of anti-corruption programme elements for due diligence, monitoring and auditing of business partners, agents, political advisors, offset providers and other third parties
  • Conduct risk-based training of business partners and other third parties on Ethics & Compliance

Essential Requirements

  • At least 6-8 years Post-Qualified Experience as an in-house generalist legal counsel or lawyer
  • Business-level proficiency in English and Bahasa Melayu; additional proficiency in any other APAC or European language is a plus
