About the role
As our Electronics Technician, you will be the hands-on expert who keeps those systems performing. You will build and improve subsystems, make the spares that go out to survey crews, and travel to site to solve problems when it counts. If you like variety, practical problem solving and seeing your work in use, this role is for you.
Key responsibilities
- Developing and building. Design, assemble and test electronics, from PCB design and surface-mount assembly to power electronics and system wiring.
- Making things. Work on mechanical fabrication, from composites to metalwork, including design, sourcing and hands-on building.
- Solving problems. Find and fix faults on airborne geophysical equipment, supported by the team back at the office.
- Getting out in the field. Travel to survey sites around the world to calibrate equipment before projects begin, make repairs and keep systems running.
- Writing code. Program in support of our electromechanical systems.
- Using great equipment. Work with oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, a pick and place machine, 3D printers, a laser cutter and CNC machines.
- Sharing what you know. Write manuals and train the operators who use our equipment every day.
- Keeping things moving. Work with suppliers to get parts when we need them, keep records for future builds, and meet aviation industry standards.
About you
- A Certificate IV or Diploma in Electronics, IT or a related field
- A strong understanding of electronics and/or instrumentation, and a good grasp of mechanics
- Hands-on experience building electronic and mechanical equipment, and confidence with the tools and instruments involved
- IT skills that go beyond general office use
- The ability to work independently with little supervision, and as part of a small team
- A commitment to doing quality work safely and productively
- A willingness to travel and work away from home from time to time, sometimes in remote places
