About the Role
Based at the Tonsley site, the Avionics Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and certification of aircraft avionics and electronic systems, ensuring all avionics equipment operates safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable aviation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cable manufacturing skills such as soldering and crimping
- Perform PCB / electronic component assembly
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft avionics systems
- Inspect, test, repair, and replace defective avionics components
- Complete fault diagnosis using specialized test equipment and diagnostic tools
- Conduct system functional tests and operational checks following maintenance activities
- Ensure aircraft systems meet airworthiness requirements before release to service
- Install avionics equipment including communication, navigation, flight management (FMS), radar, GPS/satellite communication and autopilot systems, and aircraft data recording equipment
- Perform system upgrades and avionics modifications in accordance with approved engineering documentation
- Fabricate and install wiring harnesses, connectors, and avionics assemblies
- Analyse electronic and avionics system faults using maintenance manuals and schematics
Essential Requirements
- Ability to read electrical schematics and aircraft technical manuals
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- A current driver's licence
- Ability to work in confined aircraft spaces and at heights using maintenance platforms
- Capability to lift and handle maintenance equipment safely
- Ability to work remotely for short stints when required
