The Opportunity

This is a high-impact role on a specialist commercial team responsible for delivering WSI's Airline Engagement Program. Reporting to Executive Manager - Airline Partnerships Commercial, the position will play a key role in ensuring WSI meets and exceeds passenger and cargo forecast and financial targets through partnering with a wide range of Domestic and International passenger and cargo airlines.

In this role you'll provide valuable specialist strategic and analytical support for the overall Program including development and continuous improvement of strategic, financial and commercial models to inform commercial priorities and airline negotiations. The role will primarily include development of financial models in Excel and generation of key insights in PowerPoint or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading preparation of a range of airport passenger and freight forecasts as a critical input to the WSI Financial Planning process, including the Corporate Planning cycle, the annual budget setting cycle, and reconciliation and reporting requirements across passenger and cargo
  • Leading the preparation of economic modelling, demand forecasts and scenario analysis, to evaluate a broad range of airline related commercial activities and opportunities across aeronautical pricing
  • Leading streams in the catchment analysis and route development program, skillfully using market intelligence, to provide critical insights into airline route economics and preparing compelling presentations to communicate results
  • Supporting the Commercial and Strategy team in other projects or work streams relevant to the commercial success of WSA, including strategic analysis, preparation for conferences and airline meetings, and maintenance of WSI's CRM platform

About You

  • Tertiary qualified in Commerce, Finance, Engineering, Business or Economics
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a strategic, consulting, financial analysis role or similar, with a working knowledge and understanding of the aviation industry
  • Highly developed analytical and financial modelling skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to develop error checking methodologies
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience applying these skills to engage and influence a range of stakeholders
  • Proven track record in building trusting and collaborative relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organisation
  • A curious individual who is driven to success and with an ability to cope with ambiguity and remain resilient, flexible and outcome-focused in a high-pressure environment
  • Effective organizational skills including planning, measuring progress, and being agile to ensure conflicting priorities are effectively managed
  • A demonstrated passion for the WSI project and an understanding of the broader economic impact for the Western Sydney community. Experience working within a Commonwealth Government Business Enterprise or similar publicly owned entity environment will be advantageous
