What You'll Be Doing

The engineer will support the production and quality control processes at Vickers Aircraft Company.

Responsibilities include:

Production

  • Modelling and Drafting tooling, jigs, fixtures, and assemblies in SolidWorks CAD.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to meet product requirements and material specifications.
  • Assist with the fabrication of components and assemblies, ensuring documentation is maintained for future replication.
  • Develop production flow documentation, including work instructions and guidelines for training new staff.
  • Suggest improvements for production equipment and methods to optimise efficiency.
  • Create flat patterns for composite materials and Plybooks.
  • Use nesting software and program plotter for cutting patterns.

Quality Control

  • Ensure quality of outgoing products and participate in QC of incoming materials.
  • Complete forms and support product improvement initiatives by working with the design team.

The Production Engineer role requires a hands-on approach, adaptability across various engineering disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical), and a focus on continuous learning and improvement in a small-team environment.

Educational Qualifications

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience (hands-on or work experience assessed on a case-by-case basis). Relevant fields include:
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Materials and Process Engineering.

Special Skills / Competencies

Mandatory

  • SolidWorks CAD experience for modelling and drafting.
  • Strong ability to interpret and create technical drawings.
