What You'll Be Doing
- Design & Drafting: Use SolidWorks to design and draft composite/metal components and assemblies, ensuring they meet strength, stiffness, and weight requirements, while adhering to Vickers and international standards.
- Stress Analysis: Perform structural load analysis using hand calculation methods to ensure components meet performance and safety standards.
- Plugs & Molds: Design and draft plugs and molds for composite parts, tailored to meet production needs.
- Collaboration: Work with Principle & Senior engineers to understand design requirements and ensure compliance with ASTM and Part 148 standards.
- Design Updates: Maintain and update the design brief, documenting any changes and their rationale.
- Design Meetings: Lead or participate in design meetings, including concept designs, preliminary design, and critical design reviews.
- Testing & Evaluation: Test, evaluate, and interpret results for components and assemblies.
- Documentation: Contribute to the creation of internal design standards, processes, test reports, and justification documents.
- Continuous Improvement: Support aircraft design improvements and update production parts and assemblies as required via Engineering Change Requests (ECR).
- Self-Starter: Proactively take ownership of tasks and assist in other areas as needed.
- Adhering to Quality Assurance as set out in the manual exposition
- Adhere to all health, safety and environmental regulations to ensure a safe work environment
Due to the small team size, these roles require motivated and adaptable engineers, open to working across various fields, from structures to mechanical systems.
Key Requisites
Educational Qualifications
Mandatory
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience (hands-on or work experience assessed on a case-by-case basis). Relevant fields include:
- Mechanical Engineering.
- Mechatronics Engineering.
- Materials and Process Engineering.
Special Skills / Competencies
Mandatory Skills / Competencies:
- SolidWorks CAD: Hands-on experience with CAD modelling, drafting, and technical drawing (or similar CAD software).
- Structural Understanding: Knowledge of structural load paths, failure modes, and classical/hand structural analysis.
- Math & Problem-Solving: Strong math and physics skills with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Time Management: Self-tasking, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Analytical & Critical Thinking: Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
