Tasman Cargo Airlines is seeking an accomplished aviation executive to join our leadership team as Head of Flight Operations, a critical role accountable for the safety, compliance and performance of all flight operations across Australia and New Zealand.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As Head of Flight Operations, you will have end‑to‑end accountability for all flight operations conducted under the Company’s Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC). Leading a multi‑disciplinary, geographically dispersed team, you will set strategy, shape culture and ensure safe, efficient and compliant operations.
You will act as the principal operational authority and primary liaison with CASA, providing informed advice to the CEO on safety, risk, capability and performance.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Lead and develop the Flight Operations function, establishing a strong, safety‑led culture with appropriate capability, resourcing and succession planning
Provide strategic advice to the CEO on operational risk, safety, capability and efficiency
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with CASA, ICAO and AOC requirements across all flight operations
Act as the primary company interface with CASA, leading regulatory audits, inspections and approvals
Operational Control & Safety
Maintain accountability for the safe and efficient conduct of all flight operations
Oversee aircraft allocation, operational planning, performance compliance and contracted operational support services
Flight Crew & Training Oversight
Ensure flight crew licensing, currency, rostering and duty time compliance
Oversee training, checking, emergency procedures and dangerous goods compliance, maintaining robust systems and accurate records
Safety Management & Emergency Response
Fulfil responsibilities under the Safety Management System (SMS) and Emergency Response Manual (ERM)
Support accident and incident investigations and drive continuous improvement in safety performance

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Tertiary qualifications in aviation, management or a related field (preferred)
Senior leadership experience in flight operations
Prior HOFO approval or equivalent responsibility (highly regarded)
Deep knowledge of CASA regulations, AOC management and ICAO standards
Proven SMS and regulatory compliance expertise
Significant international and widebody operational experience
Executive‑level communication and stakeholder engagement capability
High integrity and sound professional judgement, with a strong and credible leadership style
Collaborative, solutions‑focused mindset with the ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments
Clear commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Full Australian working rights
Current Australian driver licence and ability to obtain ASIC, Airside Driving Authority, and required security clearances, including for overseas travel
Ability to successfully complete pre‑employment drug & alcohol screening, audiometric testing, and a National Police Check
