About the Role
We are seeking an additional experienced and highly motivated Maintenance Watch Engineer to join our Cairns-based team. Reporting to the Responsible Manager – Continuing Airworthiness (CAM), this critical role supports the safe and efficient operation of our fleet by providing technical oversight, defect management and engineering decision-making, both during shift and after hours. Key responsibilities
The Maintenance Watch Engineer plays a key operational role in:
Providing technical advice and support to Engineering and Flight Crew
Managing and coordinating aircraft breakdowns, including remote locations
Supporting aircraft dispatch and return-to-service decisions
Liaising with OEMs, MRO providers, manufacturers and regulatory authorities
Assessing Airworthiness Directives, OEM service information and engineering documentation
Managing structural defects, avionics modifications and engineering orders (Part 21M)
Supporting ‘out of hours’ AOG requirements
Monitoring repair and overhaul agency performance
Ensuring compliance with CASR Part 42 airworthiness requirements
About You
You are a highly experienced engineer with strong technical judgement and the ability to manage competing operational demands without compromising safety, and you have:
CASA B1 or B2 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (or equivalent)
Extensive knowledge of company-type aircraft
Comprehensive understanding of CASR Part 42
Strong knowledge of aircraft technical and defect management principles
Demonstrated troubleshooting experience
High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office, technical systems)
Current ASIC or ability to obtain
Current type rating on company aircraft and previous experience in a similar operational/technical control role (desirable)
You will also bring:
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong decision-making capability in time-critical situations
High attention to detail and organisational skills
