About the Role

SmartLynx Australia is recruiting to fill a vacant engineer position at our Sydney base for the Sydney – Lord Howe Island services. We are currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time position:

  • B1 LAME

Roster: 5 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 4 days off. Early shift from 5:30 AM and late shift finishing around 8:00 PM, offering excellent work-life balance.

We are willing cover the costs of a Dash 8 type-rating course, for the right candidate. This includes a 4-weeks online training program followed by 3 weeks of hands-on practice, with SmartLynx Australia providing their Dash 8 aircraft for training purposes.

You will be responsible for:

Whilst working under the supervision of the Engineering Manager and as part of the team of Engineers, this role will typically see you:

  • Ensuring maintenance of the SmartLynx Australia aircraft is completed and certified in accordance with regulatory, manufacturers and Part 145 MOE requirements

  • Ensuring the ongoing serviceability and presentation of company aircraft on a daily basis, carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance

  • Researching requirements for upcoming maintenance to ensure availability of parts

  • Testing of equipment and tooling

  • Rectifications of defects away from base

  • Contributing to the safety and quality managements system

  • Undertaking corrective rectification of aircraft systems

  • Completing scheduled aircraft maintenance

  • Completing primary line maintenance activities

  • May involve travel to other bases if required

Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their application:

  • A valid CASA B1 Licence

  • Experience with DASH 8, Saab, or ATR turboprop aircraft desirable

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of maintenance procedures

  • Full Manual Driver’s License

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a professionally diverse team, but also have the ability to work unsupervised

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to successfully obtain an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card)
