The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is looking for pilots who are ready to take the next step in their aviation career while making a meaningful difference to regional, rural and remote communities.
Based in Mount Isa, this full-time opportunity is part of the RFDS Aircrew Mentoring Program (RAMP), designed to develop pilots through structured training and supervised operations. You'll begin flying Beechcraft King Air B200 aircraft on clinic operations and, as your experience grows, progress towards becoming an Aeromedical Pilot.
As an RFDS Pilot, you'll work alongside healthcare professionals delivering essential aeromedical retrieval and primary healthcare services across Queensland. No two days are the same, and every flight has a purpose.

Our Fleet
RFDS Queensland operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, including 16 Beechcraft King Air B200s, 4 King Air B350CHWs, and 5 King Air B360s. Each year, our pilots fly thousands of taskings, connecting Queenslanders with critical healthcare and emergency retrieval services across some of Australia's most remote locations.
What You'll Do
- Operate RFDS aircraft safely and in accordance with company procedures and aviation regulations
- Prepare aircraft for flight, including refuelling and replenishment of oxygen supplies
- Support healthcare teams with patient and equipment transfers
- Assist with loading and unloading patients, stretchers and medical equipment
- Complete operational and regulatory documentation
- Maintain operational knowledge, systems and base records
- Contribute to a strong safety and teamwork culture
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1,500 hours total flight time
- 1000 hours in Command
- 500 hours Pilot in Command on multi-engine aircraft
- 100 hours as Pilot in Command at night
- 100 hours instrument time
- Current Command Multi-Engine Instrument Rating with a minimum of two subsequent Instrument Proficiency Checks
- Current Australian ATPL or CPL
- Current Class 1 Aviation Medical
- Turbine and night flying experience
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights
