Pearl Flight Centre, a subsidiary of the Paspaley Pearling Group, is the Northern Territory's premier Fixed Base Operator (FBO). We provide professional ground handling services to a diverse range of aircraft, from high-capacity turboprops to luxury business jets. Our clients include private, charter, military, medical, general aviation, and commercial operators, both scheduled and ad-hoc.
About the Role
We are expanding and seeking a full-time (and casual) FBO Operations Officer to join our team in Darwin. This is a hands-on operational role that combines flight coordination, customer service, and aircraft ground handling — suited to someone who enjoys working both behind the desk coordinating flight operations and out on the apron supporting aircraft movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate ad-hoc and contract flight operations
- Liaise with internal teams, clients, suppliers and government agencies
- Coordinate flight set-up including third-party services such as fuel, catering and ground support
- Receive and dispatch aircraft while performing ground handling duties
- Assist flight crew with operational requirements
- Escort passengers and manage baggage handling
- Assist with aircraft preparation and passenger check-in
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and service across facilities, vehicles and ground support equipment
- Support the safe and efficient operation of the FBO environment
Operational Availability
Pearl Flight Centre operates 24 hours a day. Team members will participate in a shared on-call roster outside normal working hours to support scheduled operations, medical flights, diversion flights, and customer enquiries.
Essential Skills & Attributes
- Previous aviation experience, ideally within FBO or ground handling operations
- Strong understanding of airport ground operations and airside safety procedures
- Professional presentation with a strong appreciation for first impressions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage professionally with clients, crew and authorities
- Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities
- Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to support the team wherever required
- Collaborative team player contributing to a respectful and supportive workplace culture
- Flexible and reliable with ability to work varied hours
- Comfortable working in high-pressure operational environments
- Strong customer service focus
- Advanced computer literacy
- Ability to obtain and maintain an ASIC and ADA (Authority to Drive Airside)
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
Highly Regarded (Desirable)
- Dangerous Goods (DG) Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Human Factors Training
- Aircraft Radio Telephone Operator Certificate
- DAMP Awareness Training Certificate
- Existing ASIC and ADA
