The University of Sydney

We're Australia's first university, founded in 1850 on the lands of the Cadigal people. For over 175 years, we've been pushing boundaries - admitting women from our earliest days, championing inclusive education when others wouldn't, and continuously asking ourselves what a university should be in a changing world. Today, we're home to over 70,000 students and 450,000 alumni across more than 170 countries, all connected by a shared belief that education should transform lives and society. Our research tackles real problems - from developing new treatments for chronic diseases to creating sustainable solutions for our planet. With more than 150 research centres and consistently ranking among the world's top 25 universities, we bring together curious minds from every discipline to work on questions that matter. But what really defines us isn't our rankings or historic sandstone buildings - it's our community. We're a place where progressive thinking and challenging convention is part of our DNA, where we believe in leadership that improves lives, and where we're committed to making education accessible to anyone with the talent and drive to pursue it.
