About the Role
  
StarFlight Australia is seeking an experienced and capable Base Manager to provide a strong, visible leadership presence at our Tasmanian Emergency Air Service (TEAS) base in Hobart.
  
This is a critical on-base role responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, supporting governance, and strengthening relationships with key government stakeholders. You will act as StarFlight’s primary on-base representative, ensuring operational issues are effectively managed, escalated, and resolved in a timely manner.
  
Working closely with internal operational leaders and external emergency service partners, you will play a key role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a consistent and professional StarFlight leadership presence at the base

  • Act as the primary liaison with Tasmanian Government stakeholders, including Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Police

  • Coordinate and integrate operational matters across flight operations, engineering, training, and support teams

  • Ensure effective ownership, tracking, and escalation of operational issues

  • Support contract performance by identifying risks and facilitating timely resolution

  • Strengthen governance through clear communication, documentation, and adherence to processes

  • Support audits, reviews, and client assurance activities, including WHS requirements

  • Promote a strong safety culture and support incident reporting and investigations

  • Contribute to continuous improvement through operational insights and stakeholder feedback

  • Support base culture, wellbeing, and coordination of local people matters

  
About You
You are a confident and experienced operational leader with experience working in aviation, emergency services, or similarly complex environments.
  
You will bring:

  • Experience in aeromedical, search and rescue, or law enforcement aviation (Essential)

  • Ability to operate effectively within multi agency or government client environments, balancing organisational interests with public sector accountability and expectations.

  • Experience in operational governance, including issue ownership, risk identification, and timely escalation within regulated or high‑consequence environments.

  • Experience in operational governance, risk management, and issue resolution

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-consequence environment

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong understanding of aviation operations and procedures

  • Experience supporting safety systems and compliance frameworks

  • Prior experience working directly with emergency services clients -Police, Ambulance, Defence, etc. (Desirable)

  • Prior exposure to contract mobilisation, transition or major operational changes (Desirable)
