About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Aircrew Officer (ACO) to join our team. You will play a key role in supporting the Pilot in Command (PIC) to ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the aircraft across a diverse range of missions, providing timely operational support, situational awareness and mission-critical information during both day and night operations, including Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) activities.
Based in Bundaberg, this role supports LifeFlight’s partnership with Queensland Health and involves front left seat operations across a broad range of rotary-wing missions, including aeromedical retrievals, search and rescue (SAR), over-land and over-water winch operations, primary response tasking and inter-facility transfers. This is a full-time position working a 4-on, 4-off roster (two day shifts, two night shifts, then four days off). The successful applicant must reside within the local area; this is not a touring position.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Pilot in Command during aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency response, disaster relief and government support operations
- Provide accurate and timely operational information to assist safe and effective mission outcomes
- Monitor and communicate any matters affecting the safety, serviceability or operational effectiveness of the aircraft
- Conduct duties and training in accordance with LifeFlight’s Operations Manual and procedures
- Assist with the completion and maintenance of operational, flight and task documentation
- Participate in crew briefings and debriefings
- Support operational activities during emergency and disaster response situations as required
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 500 hours experience as a Helicopter Aircrew Officer
- Certificate IV in Aviation (Aircrew Officer)
- Winch and Rappel Competency Certificate
- Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) qualification
- CASA Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate
- Current Senior First Aid and CPR certification
- Crew Resource Management (CRM) training
- HUET / EBS qualification
- Dangerous Goods Awareness certification
- Ability to successfully complete the LifeFlight Aircrew Officer Functional Assessment
Highly Regarded
- Minimum 100 hours NVIS experience, including night winching operations
- Front left seat operational experience
- Aeronautical Radio Operator’s Certificate (AROC)
- SAR and/or EMS experience on the AW139 platform
