We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Composites to join our Cairns MRO team. This role is responsible for the repair, modification and maintenance of aircraft composite structures and components, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved technical data, company procedures and applicable aviation requirements.

Your Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with OEM publications, approved technical data, company procedures and applicable aviation regulations
- Repair and modify aircraft composite structures and components using approved processes, parts and materials
- Perform composite lay-up, bonding, vacuum bagging, curing and laminate application
- Identify defects, damage and repair requirements, escalating issues where required
- Inspect completed work to confirm it meets approved quality and engineering standards
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation, work orders, job records, certifications and daily sign-offs
- Ensure approved maintenance data is current, applicable and correctly followed
- Work collaboratively with engineers, maintenance personnel and other trades to meet production and maintenance schedules
- Maintain strict compliance with safety, quality, FOD control, tool control, housekeeping and WHS requirements
- Participate in quality and safety activities, audits, technical investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
You will be working with a range of composite materials and processes, including carbon fibre, Kevlar and E-glass; composite lay-up, bonding, vacuum bagging and curing; surface preparation, trimming, sanding and finishing; and composite repairs, modifications and interior applications.
Essential Requirements
- A minimum Certificate IV in Aeroskills
- Experience working in an aircraft maintenance facility
- Previous experience working with aircraft composites, either on-wing or off-wing
- Strong practical composite repair skills and experience with carbon fibre, fibreglass and other composite materials
- An understanding of aircraft structures and composite repair techniques
- The ability to interpret drawings, technical documentation and repair instructions
- A demonstrated understanding of aviation regulatory, quality and safety requirements
- Strong computer literacy, including experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office
