Coulson Aviation Australia is a subsidiary of global aerial firefighting leader Coulson Aviation, supporting Australian States and Emergency Service Organisations with the provision of heavy aircraft and experienced team members. We operate the New South Wales Rural Fire Service fleet of aerial firefighting and emergency services assets, including a Boeing 737 FIRELINER™, Citation and King Air Command/Control aircraft, CH47D Chinooks, UH60 Blackhawks and Bell 412 helicopters.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Blackhawk pilot to fulfil the role of S70 Blackhawk Type Specialist in New South Wales. The successful candidate will conduct aerial firefighting and flood response, equipment transport, disaster mitigation and related operations in support of emergency services.
This role reports to the HOO and assists with ensuring the safe operation of the S70 Blackhawk type in compliance with CASA Regulations, Company Manuals, policies and client SOPs. The role requires flexibility and working away from home base at short notice, and offers competitive salary with an emphasis on work/life balance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Australian CPL(H) or ATPL(H)
- 5,000 hours rotary experience
- Minimum 500 hours flying experience on S70/UH60 Blackhawk variants
- Demonstrated experience in management of aviation operations
- Detailed knowledge of civil aviation safety and regulatory framework
- Australian Class 1 Medical
- Low Level Firefighting Rating
- Low Level Sling Load Rating
- Minimum 3 years and 500 hours experience in remote area and unimproved landing area operations
- Minimum 3 years and 500 hours background in Part 138 aerial work operations including firefighting, SAR/EMS and/or external load operations
- Right to live and work in Australia

- Bell 412 type rating
- Winch / Personnel Hoist Operations Rating
- NVIS Rating
- Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
- Instructor / Flight Examiner qualifications
