About the Role

Bell Textron Australia is seeking a skilled and motivated Aviation Structures Engineer to join its engineering and maintenance support teams in Coffs Harbour (NSW) and Redcliffe (QLD).

This role is responsible for providing structural engineering and maintenance support across a diverse fleet of rotary-wing aircraft, ensuring continued airworthiness, structural integrity, and compliance with CASA requirements. The position will work closely with maintenance teams, OEMs, and regulatory bodies in a safety-critical aviation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and maintenance support for aircraft structural repairs, modifications, and substantiation
  • Review, interpret, and apply OEM structural repair manuals (SRMs), engineering orders, and service bulletins
  • Develop engineering instructions, repair schemes, and technical documentation in accordance with regulatory regulations
  • Support defect investigations, damage assessments, and root cause analysis
  • Liaise with OEMs and approved design organisations (DOAs) where required
  • Ensure all engineering activities meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements
  • Support maintenance teams with technical guidance on structural issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and compliance systems
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation
  • Travel between operational sites as required

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate 4 in Aeroskills Structures or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in an aircraft structural engineering environment
  • Strong understanding of regulatory framework and airworthiness requirements
  • Experience working with helicopter structural systems and repair methodologies
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and structural data
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
  • Ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in engineering documentation and maintenance systems
  • Ability to meet DAMP requirements
  • National Police Check
  • Full Australian working rights

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting Bell, Airbus, or Leonardo helicopter platforms
  • Familiarity with composite and metallic structure repairs
  • Previous experience in a CASA regulated environment
  • Exposure to fatigue analysis, damage tolerance, or structural integrity programs
  • Experience liaising directly with OEM engineering teams
