Our unwavering focus ensures exceptional service delivery across all operations. We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Head of Flight Operations (D/HOFO) to join our team. In this critical role, you’ll support our Head of Flight Operations to establish scalable foundations, drive operational excellence, and foster a positive culture across our organisation.

The Opportunity

As Deputy HOFO, you will support a national operation, working closely with the HOFO and cross-functional teams to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient conduct of flight operations. You’ll help ensure compliance of manuals and documentation in addition to establishing systems and processes that support sustainable growth, focusing on continuous improvement and collaboration. You will be a strong champion for a culture of safety, respect, reliability and resilience founded upon accountability, professionalism, and teamwork, inspiring our team to achieve new heights. We are looking for an established or aspiring leader with a deep understanding of helicopter flight operations and a passion for building robust, scalable processes. The ideal candidate has proven experience in a managerial role within the aviation industry, with strong skills in regulatory compliance, safety management, and operational excellence. You should be someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, who is adaptable and forward-thinking, and who can inspire and lead a team through periods of change.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct of Flight Operations management including:
  • Process and procedure review;
  • Roster oversight;
  • Technical advice to the SMS;
  • Conduct of Line Pilot duties;
  • Conduct of CASR Part 141 Flight Training; and

Conduct of Training and Checking duties.

About you

Essential

Meet the requirements to be appointed as alternate HOFO and alternate Head of Operations (HOO) under CASR Parts 119 and 138 respectively; Strong working knowledge of CASA regulations as they relate to Air Transport and Aerial Work Helicopter operations;

  • CPL or ATPL licence (Helicopter);
  • Multi-Engine Helicopter Instrument Rating (MEH IR);
  • Low Level Rating;
  • NVIS Rating; and

Minimum of 2,500 hours total flight time (minimum 500 Multi Engine PIC).

Desirable

  • ​Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer (HMPT) experience;
  • Type Ratings on Airbus H135 and/or H145 helicopters;
  • Flight Instructor Rating (FIR);
  • Flight Examiner Rating (FER);
  • Previous appointment as HOFO or HOO in a helicopter operation;
  • Experience with Air Maestro (or similar) aviation software; and

Tertiary qualifications in business, project or aviation management.
