Archerfield Airport is located 11km south of the Brisbane CBD. It has a rich history, serving originally as Brisbane's primary and international airport and later as a base during WWII. Today, the airport operates as Queensland's largest General Aviation hub and Brisbane's Metropolitan airport, supporting passenger and freight charters, private aviation, flight training, emergency services, air work and maintenance repair and overhaul. Archerfield Airport was named Metropolitan Airport of the Year in 2021 and 2024 and has the highest number of helicopter movements of any Australian airport.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity to join a small, friendly and close-knit team, maintaining the extensive grounds of the Archerfield Airport precinct. We are seeking a physically fit, reliable, and self-motivated person to help maintain and enhance the airport's landside precinct and assist with airside upkeep when required. This is a permanent, full-time position with a 9-day working fortnight.

Key Responsibilities

• Mowing (zero-turn ride on), whipper snipping, and general garden maintenance.
• Street cleaning and litter removal.
• Hedging and trimming of plants and trees.
• Green waste collection and removal.
• Weed, pest, and disease control and identification.
• Operating and maintaining gardening tools and equipment.
• General labouring and cleaning.
• Compliance with Safety Management Systems.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience in a gardening or landscaping role preferred.
• Valid Class C driver's licence preferred.
• Ability to use initiative and work unsupervised.
• Competent using equipment such as zero-turn ride-on mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, hedgers, and power tools.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and flexibility.
• Must undergo comprehensive pre-employment assessments including criminal background check, medical examination and drug & alcohol screening in accordance with CASA regulations.
