Airspeed Aviation is celebrating 18 years of award-winning success this year. We are a Tamworth-based charter operator with flight schools serving communities in four NSW locations. You will join a tight-knit team of 10 pilots and support staff operating a mixed fleet of over 15 aircraft. About the Role
Our Senior Pilot is planning to move on before year’s end, giving us the opportunity to find the best candidate for this critical role. The role combines IFR Charter and private client IFR operations (20–40%), Charter Team Leader duties (20%) and IFR/MEA flight instruction (20–40%). We are preparing our charter operations for planned expansion in 2027 with additional types on contract-based charter, and the successful candidate will help drive this expansion with both technical aptitude and people-management skills. As team leader, you will guide staff and student development and be a resource for other instructors and pilots. This is not a Part 142 school — it is more one-on-one and focused on your students’ personal goals.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Relevant charter experience (both SEA and MEA), with GTE and PSEA charter experience
- Grade 2 Endorsement, Design Feature training, IFR and Night Training Endorsements
- Tail-wheel and aerobatics training experience for our Super Decathlon
- Previous experience on C414, PA31, C404, C441, B200, TBM or PC12
- Cirrus Standard Instructor Program
- A sense of adventure, infectious enthusiasm and a passion for passing on expertise
Mandatory Criteria
- Australian citizen or current right to work in Australia, currently living in Australia
- Current Australian CPL, Australian ME-IR and unrestricted Class 1 Medical
- GTE and PXS
- Instructor Rating with Grade 2, DFE and IFR training endorsements
- More than 1,000 hours TTIS
- Previous experience on Baron / Cessna C310
- Demonstrated hospitality and customer service skills
This is a full-time Tamworth-based position with regular overnight travel in NSW and interstate. Accommodation support may be provided for a couple of weeks while you settle into your new base.
