About the Role
Schedule: 2 to 4 days per week (No Fridays, no weekends)
Looking for a way to stay connected to aviation, supplement your income, and shape the next generation — without the gruelling full-time grind?
At Airbus Richmond, we perform heavy maintenance and modifications on the RAAF's vital C-130J Hercules fleet. We aren't just maintaining aircraft — we are building the future of Australian aviation.
We are looking for seasoned Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (Mechanical, Structures, or Avionics) to step into a mentorship role to support our up-and-coming apprentices. If you have the knowledge and the passion to teach, we have a flexible workspace waiting for you.
Why This Role is Different
- True Flexibility: Tailor-made for semi-retired professionals, those transitioning out of the military, or anyone seeking meaningful part-time work. Work 2 to 4 days a week — our site operates Monday to Thursday for a permanent 3-day weekend.
- Impact Over Hard Labour: Your primary tool will be your wisdom. You'll guide, supervise and mentor RAAF Fitters and Airbus apprentices as they progress toward their AME qualifications.
- A Proud Mission: Directly support the Royal Australian Air Force and keep our defence capabilities flying.
What You Bring to the Hangar
- Qualifications: A Trade Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance, a Certificate IV in Aeroskills, or a DASR 66 / CASA Part 66 Licence
- Expertise: Solid understanding of aircraft maintenance documentation and safety practices
- The Right Attitude: Patience, strong communication skills, and an eye for detail
Prior military experience, heavy maintenance experience, or specific C-130J knowledge is highly regarded but not mandatory.
