About the Role

As an Air Traffic Control Simulator Pilot (Simulator Support Officer), you will deliver simulation exercises by performing the role of a simulator pilot, simulator air traffic control, and fulfil coordination as other agencies. You will also contribute to the design, development, and delivery of innovative, high-quality competency-based training solutions to ensure effective and efficient training outcomes for operational air traffic control.

This is a full-time two-year contract position. Shifts will typically fall between 07:00am and 8:30pm, Monday to Friday. Starting salary: $84,317 + 14% Super (SSO Trainee).

Essential Skills

  • Must hold, maintain, or be able to attain ICAO English Language Proficiency at Level 6 or equivalent
  • Swift and precise analytical thinking with proven capabilities to assess and action varied information accurately
  • Speed and accuracy with PC equipment — critical to success is being at least one step ahead of a fast-paced simulation environment
  • Proven ability to work harmoniously and communicate effectively within a team framework
  • Seamless adaptation to changing environments and workloads
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and eagerness to embrace new technologies
  • Proven ability to interpret, evaluate, and act upon data adhering to stringent procedures and tight timeframes
  • Competence in performing mental arithmetic accurately and expediently
  • Ability to monitor and action a variety of targets and simulated agencies to build a realistic simulation environment

Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience delivering theoretical and hands-on training on a one-on-one or group basis
  • General understanding or appreciation of aircraft performance and Air Traffic procedures
  • Acquaintance with Radio Telephony phraseology and the phonetic alphabet
  • Prior experience or familiarity with Air Traffic Control operations and environments
  • Possession of or pursuit towards aviation qualifications, via flying experience or tertiary studies (highly desirable)

Eligibility & Security

You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident as an ASIC is required for this role. Successful applicants will be required to undertake security checks as part of the recruitment process.
