About the Role

Help keep Auckland Airport moving, 24/7. Are you looking for something more than a desk job?

Join Air bp at Auckland Airport in a hands-on operational role helping manage the safe receipt, storage, quality and distribution of aviation fuel.

As a Depot Controller, you’ll help look after a critical fuel facility that supports airport operations every day. It’s a role with real responsibility, variety and plenty to keep you moving.

Why join Air bp?

Alongside competitive hourly and overtime rates, you’ll enjoy:

  • 8% company KiwiSaver contribution
  • Life, health and income protection insurance
  • bp Fuel Card, Wild Bean Café and car wash discounts
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Attractive roster - 4 days on | 4 days off
  • The opportunity to play an important part in keeping Auckland Airport moving 24/7

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work across the depot, taking ownership of safe and reliable day-to-day operations, including:

  • Monitoring fuel depot operations and equipment
  • Managing fuel transfers and storage activities
  • Conducting fuel sampling and quality checks
  • Completing operational inspections and documentation
  • Monitoring systems and depot infrastructure
  • Identifying hazards and responding to operational issues
  • Maintaining site security and compliance
  • Supporting emergency and incident response

You'll need to be confident working independently, following procedures and making sound decisions when it matters.

This isn't a desk job

You’ll spend a good part of your shift out in the depot, so reasonable physical fitness is important.

You should be comfortable with:

  • Regular walking throughout the site, potentially around 12,000 steps per shift
  • Climbing stairs and working at height to inspect the tops of our bulk fuel storage tanks
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions

What we’re looking for

You’ll be dependable, safety-focused and comfortable taking ownership of your work. Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • A strong commitment to Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence following procedures and compliance requirements
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience in an operational, industrial, aviation, transport or logistics environment

The roster

This is a 24/7 operation, working 4 days on | 4 days off | 12-hour shifts. That means four days off every rotation to make the most of life outside work.

What you’ll need

  • Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence
  • Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster
  • Ability to meet pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing and police vetting requirements
  • New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency or the legal right to work in New Zealand

You don't need an aviation background. If you've worked around pumps, pipes, tanks, plant or process equipment in an industrial environment, your experience could be a great fit.
