I investigated operational events within Air New Zealand’s Integrated Airline Safety Management System, examining human, technical and organisational factors. I reconstructed events, prepared fact-based technical safety reviews, supported risk identification and mitigation, and closed approximately 2,500 operational safety reports. I also delivered approximately 40 safety refresher seminars to jet and turboprop pilot groups and collaborated with flight operations, technical, safety and management stakeholders.

Jan 2022 – Jan 2024

I operated domestic and international Boeing 737-800NG services throughout Australia, Asia and the South Pacific. I maintained compliance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements, applying Crew Resource Management, Threat and Error Management, situational awareness and operational decision-making. I completed recurrent simulator training, proficiency checking and line operations.

Jan 2020 – Jan 2022

I provided website design, development, hosting and technical support for clients. I managed client requirements, project delivery and ongoing business relationships, developing further capability in digital systems, technology, problem-solving and project management.

Jan 2005 – Jan 2020

I operated Boeing 737-800NG aircraft for approximately 15 years throughout New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific. I worked within airline SOP, regulatory, training, checking, safety and reporting systems, completing recurrent simulator training, proficiency checks and line checks. I developed extensive experience in multi-crew airline operations, operational procedures, CRM, TEM and commercial aviation.

Jan 2004 – Jan 2005

I operated international Boeing 737-800NG services throughout the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. I worked in an international multi-crew airline environment and transitioned from regional turboprop command into international jet airline operations.

Jan 2003 – Dec 2003

I operated the DHC-6-300 as Captain throughout the Tongan inter-island network. I conducted multi-crew regional passenger operations and applied command judgement, aircraft management and operational decision-making in demanding regional conditions.

Jan 1996 – Jan 2003

I provided website design, website management and commercial photography services. I managed client relationships, technical delivery and business operations.

Jan 1994 – Jan 1996

I operated the DHC-6-300 as Captain in high-frequency inter-island operations, including substantial single-pilot flying across a geographically dispersed island network and schedules of up to approximately 12 sectors per day. I managed aircraft preparation, weather assessment, fuel, payload, performance and operational decision-making in changing tropical conditions. I also conducted occasional emergency medical-support flights involving medical personnel, equipment and patient evacuation support.

Jan 1991 – Jan 1992

I operated regional passenger services throughout Samoa and surrounding island destinations. I flew the DHC-6 Twin Otter as First Officer while concurrently operating the BN-2A Islander as Captain, working across both single-pilot and multi-crew operations.

Jan 1987 – Jan 1989

I operated high-frequency inter-island passenger services as DHC-6 Twin Otter First Officer and BN-2A Islander Captain. I developed early multi-engine command, regional aviation and remote-area operational experience.
