The company handles more than 25 million cbm of aviation fuel annually, refueling two million aircraft. This is equivalent to four fuellings per minute. Flyon commenced operations in Mackay on the 1st December 2016 following the award of a marine pilot transfer contract by Torres Pilots Pty Ltd. Torres Pilots Pty Ltd have been providing marine pilot services for vessels transiting the AMSA (Australian Maritime Authority) compulsory area of Hydrographers Passage for over 30 years. In reviewing their requirements, Torres Pilots sought to engage with an aviation provider that could provide reliability and secure services for their marine pilotage operations 24/7. Hydrographers Passage, a deep channel passage with its PBG (Pilot Boarding Ground) lying 110 nautical miles offshore from the Coal export terminals of Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point is the longest HMPT (Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer) anywhere in the world. All marine pilot transfers (MPTs) are conducted via land on helicopter at Blossom Bank pilot boarding ground. In the spirit of reconciliation Flyon Pty Ltd acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
