About the Role

Valtec is an international drone technology company. We are seeking a skilled Maritime Drone and Systems Technician to oversee the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), maritime IT systems, helicopter systems, and supporting mission infrastructure across both land-based and open-sea environments.

This is an active, field-intensive position requiring end-to-end operational execution, technical maintenance, and frequent travel. Candidates must be comfortable working from maritime vessels for extended periods (up to 8 weeks at sea / 3-month deployments).

Key Responsibilities

  • UAS & Flight Operations: Execute flawless deployment, launch/recovery, mission planning, and flight operations of drone/UAS capabilities across land and maritime vessels.
  • Systems Installation & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain Ground Control Stations (GCS), payload cameras, communication/data links, telemetry systems, and power equipment.
  • Maritime IT Support: Provide field support and configuration for onboard networking, interfaces, rugged compute, and vessel storage/recording devices.
  • Helicopter & Radio Systems Integration: Support installation, connectivity validation, and functional testing of helicopter-mounted camera systems; operate and troubleshoot operational radio systems.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostics, component replacement, and field repairs on hardware, firmware, GNSS navigation, and telemetry under austere shipboard conditions (including corrosion-aware handling).
  • Technical Logging & Asset Management: Meticulously log flight data, maintenance histories, battery health tracking, inventory checklists, and incident/near-miss reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to CAAP regulations, maritime vessel protocols, and company safety management procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Mandatory Certifications: Must hold a valid CAAP Drone Certification and a Seaman Certification (Basic Training - BT). Those without these certification will be trained and subsidized with a corresponding bond.
  • Technical Skills: Proven experience in hardware troubleshooting, electronics, basic networking, or field diagnostics.
  • Operational Flexibility: Highly adaptable and willing to participate in on-call or shift schedules dictated by weather windows, sea states, aviation schedules, or deployment demands.
  • Physical & Mental Readiness: Physically ready to withstand extended maritime deployments (up to 8 weeks at sea).
