About the Role

BDA is recruiting a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Specialist to join the Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) program at Nowra, NSW. In this role you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, servicing, repair, and fault diagnosis of machinery and equipment supporting the EC135 Helicopter fleet.

This is a full-time temporary position expected to end December 2027.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage HATS Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Tooling
  • Maintain all Support and Test Equipment (STE) in accordance with item maintenance policy
  • Manage tool calibration schedules and carry out tool kit auditing
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on HATS GSE equipment
  • Maintain and manage component and replacement part inventories
  • Maintain a register of GSE and STE equipment
  • Work independently under limited supervision

Essential Requirements

  • Aviation or mechanical trades certification — minimum Certificate III
  • Strong computer skills across Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyse, inspect, disassemble, rebuild, modify, and test factory machinery and equipment (mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics)
  • Ability to read and interpret advanced blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of set-up, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of GSE
  • Proficiency with various hand, power-driven, and specialty tools
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships within a complex organisational structure
  • Ability to use initiative, prioritise, and work to tight timeframes with limited supervision
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills

Desirable

  • High Risk Work Licence (Forklift and Dogging)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERP MRO (cMRO) or equivalent Maintenance Management software
  • Experience with asset management software applications
