We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structures / Sheet Metal Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) to join our team based in Essendon Fields, Victoria.

In this role, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, modification, inspection, and repair of aircraft structures and sheet metal components. Working on a diverse range of aircraft, you will carry out maintenance activities in accordance with approved technical data, Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), engineering drawings, company procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and workmanship, contributing directly to the ongoing airworthiness and reliability of our customers' aircraft. You will also collaborate closely with fellow engineers and maintenance professionals in a team-focused environment committed to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft structural repairs, modifications, and sheet metal maintenance on Textron Aviation aircraft.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), and maintenance instructions.
  • Fabricate, form, modify, and install sheet metal components and assemblies.
  • Remove and install rivets, fasteners, panels, and structural aircraft components.
  • Drill, ream, countersink, dimple, deburr, and assemble aircraft structural parts.
  • Install solid and blind rivets, bolts, screws, nutplates, and associated hardware.
  • Inspect aircraft structures for damage, defects, corrosion, fatigue, and wear.
  • Perform corrosion treatment, repair, prevention, and application of approved surface protection coatings, primers, and finishes.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with all workplace safety and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to apprentices and less experienced maintenance personnel.

Education

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Structures) or equivalent recognised aircraft structural trade qualification.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience performing aircraft structural maintenance and sheet metal repairs within an aviation maintenance environment.
  • Experience on business jet or general aviation aircraft preferred, particularly Textron Aviation products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft Structural Repair Manuals (SRM) and approved maintenance data.
  • Skilled in aircraft sheet metal fabrication, structural repairs, riveting, corrosion identification and treatment techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety focus, and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
  • CASA Part 66 licence or progression toward CASA Part 66 licensing is desirable but not essential.
