About the Role

Operating within the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance function, the Spare Parts Interpreter supports safe, reliable and efficient airport operations through the accurate identification, sourcing, procurement, receipt, storage and issue of spare parts, components and consumables. Reporting to the National Fleet Manager, the role works closely with GSE technicians, the workshop manager, internal stakeholders and approved suppliers to maintain parts availability, effective inventory control, accurate purchasing records and minimal equipment downtime.

  • Source and procure fit-for-purpose parts, components, consumables, tools and workshop materials from approved suppliers.
  • Raise, track and close purchase orders in accordance with company purchasing procedures.
  • Receive, inspect and process incoming goods, verifying part numbers, quantities and condition.
  • Maintain appropriate minimum and maximum stock levels and complete regular cycle counts, stocktakes and inventory audits.
  • Monitor parts usage and stock trends, identifying critical, slow-moving, obsolete or surplus inventory.
  • Monitor critical parts, backorders and outstanding purchase orders, escalating supply risks.
  • Coordinate freight and parts movements between suppliers, workshops and operational locations.
  • Support GSE technicians and workshop teams with planned maintenance, breakdown and urgent repair requirements.
  • Coordinate supplier quotations, repairable components, warranties, returns, credits and invoice queries.
  • Build effective supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.
  • Supervise and coordinate day-to-day parts and stores activities.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong mechanical parts knowledge and ability to interpret technical manuals and manufacturer catalogues.
  • Experience with purchasing, purchase orders, goods receipting, inventory control, stocktakes and supplier coordination.
  • Confidence using computerised inventory, procurement, ERP or maintenance management systems; extensive experience with Maximo highly preferred.
  • Current Australian driver's licence.
