That’s why attracting and keeping great talent is key to our vision of becoming a globally trusted aviation specialist.
The Role
We’re looking for an organised, approachable and detail-focused People & Payroll Coordinator to join our People & Capability team at Salus Aviation.
Based at Ardmore, this is a varied hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of payroll processing while also supporting the employee journey across our business. From onboarding new starters and keeping our people systems humming, to assisting with travel booking, recruitment documentation and day-to-day People & Culture queries, no two days will look quite the same.
You’ll be an important first point of contact for our people and a trusted member of the team, so discretion, accuracy and great communication are essential.
What you’ll be doing
Your day-to-day will include:
- Taking ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring our people are paid accurately and on time
- Maintaining accurate employee information across payroll, HRIS and personnel systems
- Coordinating employee documentation, employment changes, onboarding and offboarding
- Being a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact for payroll and People & Culture queries
- Producing and checking payroll reports ahead of approval and payment
- Processing expense claims, invoices and other People & Capability administration
- Supporting recruitment activity, including reference checks
- Keeping our systems, databases, records and documentation accurate and up to date
- Providing reception cover when required
- Acting as back-up Travel Coordinator, assisting with flights, accommodation, rental vehicles and travel administration when needed
- Looking for smarter, simpler ways of doing things and contributing to continuous improvement across the team
About you
You don’t necessarily need to have done every aspect of this role before. What matters most is that you’re someone who can be trusted with the detail, enjoys supporting people and isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Previous payroll or payroll support experience
- Strong administration skills, ideally gained within an HR, People & Culture or similar environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with absolute discretion
- Strong Microsoft 365 and general systems capability
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and plenty of common sense
- The ability to build relationships with people at all levels of an organisation
- Confidence managing competing priorities and adapting when things change
- A collaborative approach and willingness to jump in and help the wider team
- An understanding of New Zealand employment and payroll legislation would be an advantage
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who cares about getting things right while providing a great experience for our people.
Why Join Salus Aviation?
This is an opportunity to build your People & Culture experience in a role with genuine variety and responsibility. You’ll work closely with our People & Capability team and stakeholders across the wider business, gaining exposure to payroll, HR operations, recruitment, employee lifecycle activities and broader people initiatives.
