F-35 Head of Synthetic Training

Primary Responsibility

Located in Williamtown, NSW, this position is responsible for the delivery of F-35 synthetic flying training activities as part of the TSS Contract.

You will lead the Contractor Instructor Pilot (CIP) workforce, serve as the F-35 Subject Matter Expert (SME), and architect complex synthetic training and mission rehearsal environments that directly support force generation, operational readiness, air combat training, tactical proficiency, and mission effectiveness.


Duties

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the F-35 Contractor Instructor Pilot (CIP) team

  • Serve as the F-35 pilot training Subject Matter Expert

  • Provide instruction using the Full Mission Simulator (FMS) and/or Deployable Mission Rehearsal Trainer (DMRT).

  • Carry out CIP duties as part of the total CIP workforce

  • Deliver instruction using the Full Mission Simulator (FMS) and/or Deployable Mission Rehearsal Trainer (DMRT)

  • Manage resources to adequately meet training development and delivery requirements in accordance with customer priorities

  • Lead lesson planning and mission guide revision efforts

  • Lead aircrew training device scenario design and programming efforts

  • Deliver recommended corrective action and remedial training

  • In conjunction with customer guidance, deliver aircrew training as required.

  • Create lesson revision inputs and syllabi reviews with the other CIPs, Courseware staff and the customer.

  • Provide force generation/ application support services including support to exercises, operational deployments, doctrine Airworthiness and Aviation Risk Management as scheduled or when on contract.

Essential

  • Minimum Royal Australian Air Force Fighter Combat Instructor (FCI), or United States Air Force equivalent, qualification on fourth and/or fifth generation front line fighter aircraft. Alternatively, current/recent experience flying F-35 fighter aircraft

  • Minimum of 1500 hours Fighter Flight Time in fourth and/or fifth generation fighter aircraft essential.

Desirable

  • Expert experience flying 5th gen fighters

  • Expert combat operations experience on a fourth or fifth generation fighter aircraft

  • Expert experience with advanced sensors, such as an advanced targeting pod or a helmet-mounted display
