We are seeking a professional First Officer to join our jet fleet, to support safe, efficient operations and to enhance our reputation for safety, quality, and service.

This is an exciting opportunity for a First Officer to join the Jet Operations team at GCH Aviation. As First Officer, you will be an integral part of the flight operations, responsible for assisting the Captain in the safe and efficient operation of corporate jet aircraft.

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager – Jet Operations and working under the direction of the Pilot-in-Command (PIC) while on duty, you will:

  • Support the PIC with all aspects of flight planning and execution, including performance calculations, weight and balance, fuel planning, weather and NOTAM review.

  • Operate as Pilot Flying (PF) and Pilot Monitoring (PM) as rostered, in accordance with company SOPs and best-practice CRM.

  • Conduct thorough pre-flight and post-flight checks, and ensure accurate completion of all required flight documentation.

  • Actively contribute to GCH Aviation’s Safety Management System (SMS) through hazard identification, incident reporting, and strong threat and error management (TEM).

  • Work closely with cabin crew, ground handlers, ATC, and FBO staff to deliver a premium, seamless experience for our private and corporate clients.

  • Represent GCH Aviation professionally at all times, both in the cockpit and on the ground.

This full-time role is Christchurch-based, with domestic and international travel as rostered or operationally required.

About You

You are a disciplined, safety-focused pilot who enjoys working in a small, professional team and delivering a high-quality client experience. You will bring:

  • NZ CPL or ATPL Pilot Licence

  • NZ Multi Engine Instrument Rating

  • All NZ ATPL subjects

  • High levels of flying skill, situational awareness, and sound operational judgement.

  • Clear, calm communication and excellent crew resource management capabilities.

  • Strong planning, time management, and attention to detail.

  • Professional presentation, discretion, and the ability to maintain strict client confidentiality.
