About the Role
Service Technician – Western Sydney Airport, full time, permanent. Freightquip is looking for an experienced Sydney-based Service Technician to join the team — an excellent opportunity for a qualified Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrician or Electrician looking for a varied, hands-on role working with specialised equipment in the aviation industry. This role operates on a 4-on 4-off roster, 365 days a year, with shifts 6am–6pm and on-call approximately 3 days a fortnight.
Key Responsibilities
Service, maintain and repair a diverse range of aviation ground support equipment including aircraft tugs, belt loaders, baggage tractors, cargo loaders, passenger stairs, ground power units and specialised airport support equipment, including:
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical faults
- Complete scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
- Attend breakdowns and minimise customer downtime
- Install, commission and test new equipment
- Complete OEM upgrades, service bulletins and warranty repairs
- Maintain accurate service records using electronic reporting systems
- Provide professional technical support and outstanding customer service
- Work safely while complying with company and airport safety requirements
- Travel occasionally to support customers across Australia when required
Essential Requirements
- Mechanical, Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrical, Mobile Plant or Electrical trade qualification
- Experience working on heavy vehicles, mobile plant, forklifts, agricultural, mining, construction or industrial equipment
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
- Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing where required
Desirable
- Experience with PLCs, CANBus or electric drive systems
- Hydraulic fault-finding experience
- Aviation Ground Support Equipment experience
- Airside operating experience
