About the Role
Do you have a mechanical trade qualification, proven diagnostic skills and a commitment to customer service excellence? We have an exciting opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic to support our Fleet Management team at Melbourne Airport.
You will be responsible for ensuring our large fleet of specialised trucks are well maintained to a road worthy standard and repairs or parts are identified and completed in an efficient and safe manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspecting and test driving vehicles to diagnose malfunctions.
- Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts.
- Troubleshooting fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems, using electronic diagnostics.
- Tune engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning.
- Repair, replace, or adjust defective parts.
- Scheduled routine maintenance.
- Install or repair air conditioners and service components.
- Manage and control spare parts as well as updating the vehicle maintenance system.
- Co-ordinate services and repairs performed by contractors / service providers.
- On-call after hours to attend or provide support for breakdowns.
Essential Requirements
- Mechanical Trade Qualification with 5+ years' experience (inclusive of trade apprenticeship).
- Demonstrated success in a similar role, preferably on Diesel Vehicles.
- Heavy Rigid License, or ability to obtain one.
- Proven diagnostic skills.
- Electrical and PLC's knowledge is essential.
- Good written and verbal skills and computer proficiency (MS Excel and Word).
- Must be able to work flexible shifts and OT.
- Mandatory Police Check clearance required (at dnata's cost).
