Our specially trained doctors, nurses, and aircrew use helicopters, turbo prop aircraft, aeromedical jets and patient transport vehicles to provide critical support to over 8,500 patients each year. We also deploy medical professionals and aircraft in support of defence, government and commercial contracts, and energy and resource sector sites.

The role

We are currently seeking an EOI for a Fixed Based AW139 Captain position in our Northern Operations, located in Darwin. Applicants will also be required to travel occasionally to support CareFlight Operations at other nominated locations and to attend training events.

It is a requirement for applicants to reside or be willing to reside in Darwin and who meet the following essential and desirable criteria:

Essential Technical Skills

The following PIC minimums are set for operations by both day and night, and must be logged in the pilot’s personal flying log book:

• CPL (H);

• An AW139 Type rating and experience;

• 2500 flying hours helicopters;

• 1500 flying hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on helicopters;

• 1200 flying hours PIC turbine engines;

• 500 flying hours PIC on multi-engine helicopters;

• 100 flying hours IFR on helicopters;

• 100 flying hours PIC NVIS on helicopters;

• Instrument Rating & 2 renewals; MEH, IAP 2D, IAP 3D;

• Night Vision Imaging System - G1; and

• Low Level H – Winch.

Essential Non-Technical Skills

• Demonstrated experience working in small specialist teams.

• Demonstrated understanding of and competency with CRM, Risk Management and Safety Management Systems.

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to take on non-flying related secondary duties.

• Demonstrated competencies with computing systems such as Word, Excel, and iPad Flight Planning applications.

Desirable

• Aircraft and operational ratings and endorsements:

o ATPL (H).

o Current HUET certificate.

o Current DG certificate.

o Northern Territory (or similar) experience.
